The roofing tile and brick industries in the country are practicing a 150 year old technology vis-à-vis the technological advancement taken place all over the world in this field. The tile and brick industries in Karnataka are facing a lot of problems starting from the paucity of raw materials, inefficient processing, drying and firing techniques. Because of these problems most of the industries have already been closed or are in the threat of closure.
Hence, in order to remove obsolescence existing in tile, brick and other building products industries, Govt. of Karnataka, K.S.F.C. and K.R.E.C. / N.I.T.K. in association with various Tile Industry Associations have established this centre at K.R.E.C. / N.I.T.K., so that the additional necessary expertise can be created apart from fruitfully utilizing the expertise and infrastructural facilities available in K.R.E.C. / N.I.T.K.
